The UK government is committed to an in out EU referendum.

One of the arguments to support the UK leaving the EU is that it will free up the country to trade with whomover it chooses and cast off the shackles of merely being a constituent member of the EU trading bloc. The notion that the UK will be as successful as the US, China and Russia is of course fanciful, but there are those who do believe that this would happen if the UK did vote to leave the EU.
