The shooting of an unarmed teenager by a man who has pursued him across a gated community he had entered legitimately with his girlfriend caused outrage among many US citizens. The case was so controversial as he used Florida's 'Stand your ground' as his defence for the shooting, which allows anyone who is in fear of their lives to use any means at their disposal to not only defend themselves, but in this case it was the shooter who pursued the victim. The shooter has since been found not guilty in court giving rise to further claims that the USA has one law for the rich and white people and another for poor and Afro-Americans.
